Problem Gambling Treatment

A Problem Gambling Addiction can mean more than gambling at casinos. Gambling extends to lottery tickets, popular pull tab tickets, and even sports betting.

Problem Gambling Treatment at MBH is a non-judgmental environment where you will:

• Learn and understand the criteria for problem gambling
• Determine the severity of the problem
• Identify risk factors and warning signs
• Identify risk factors and warning signs
• Identify the pathways of gambling
• Learn the effects on physical and mental health, responsibilities, and relationships
• Understand and identify the stages of change
• Learn effective coping skills, harm reduction, and relapse prevention

As an initial assessment, a South Oaks Gambling Screening will be administered. If Problem Gambling/Addiction is found, a more thorough screen may be administered during the next appointment.

Treatment models used will be Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Family counseling is possible as well.

Individuals who would benefit from Problem Gambling Treatment are those who feel their gambling is getting out of control, as well as those whose problem gambling behaviors have led to:

• Relationship issues
• Financial issues
• Extreme debt
• Mental health issues
• Physical health issues
• Trauma
• Problems at work or school
• Suicidal feelings
• Legal consequences
