Gambling Addiction

Gambling Addiction Rehab

Gambling is a recreational activity until it becomes a problem. It effects young, middle-aged, retiree, old, rich, poor; it is no respecter of persons. There is help, treatment, here at Muskingum Behavioral Health. Just call in, schedule an appointment for an initial assessment; a South Oaks Gambling Screening will be administered and a more intense assessment will be completed during the second appointment. Based on the results of the screening, you will be meeting with an individual for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) treatment, and family counseling. We look at the thoughts that drive the gambling, identified possible other addictive behaviors, and identify desired outcomes – abstinence or harm reduction.

Known effective treatment is Motivational, Reality, Change CBT, and Spirituality. Principles of Gambling Treatment are to teach responsibility, harm reduction, prevention, stages of change, treatment matching, and informed and shared/planned decision-making. In treatment, a person will learn the phases of problem gambling.

Who would benefit from treatment? Anyone who feels their gambling is getting out of control, anyone who has relationship issues, financial issues, extreme debt, mental health or physical health issues, past trauma, problems at work or school, feeling suicidal, legal consequences due to problem gambling behaviors.
